Bird’s Eye Wisdom Name
Sometimes we need a shift in perspective, to see things from a different view. A reminder that our perception shapes our reality, and no matter what is going on around us we always choose the lens through which we view our selves and our world.
Bird encounters have often reminded me of this. Witnessing the power and beauty of eagles and hawks soaring overhead, reflecting back those qualities we each have, too. Nimble and ornery hummingbirds hovering in front of my face and in my van, seeming to say “just lighten up and enjoy life.” Grouse blocking my path and chasing me on the trail, prompting screaming and cursing. The craziest encounter? A goshawk swooping down and stealing my business hat off my head as I hiked.
While the instant reaction to the hat theft was terror, screaming, running, and telling everyone I saw about it as I consoled myself with a pizza (love a thru hiker appetite!), I started reflecting on the meaning later on. I don’t really think anything is a coincidence, so sharing the hawk story with a friend and wondering about the meaning behind this encounter. The hawk DID steal my favorite business hat!
“Maybe it just means you’ll be doing your work from a higher perspective,” she offered, “from a different view.”
Her words struck a chord, and it felt like it was a calling to integrate all of myself into my work–the spiritual side and energetic work along with the science and coaching backgrounds in movement and physiology. These were the early seeds of Bird’s Eye Wisdom.
I am excited to share these new perspectives with you.
